We now have everything you need to upgrade the work lights on your “standard” Sportsman to “deluxe” status.  In other words, make the work lights functional.  Wiring and bulb sockets are already in place on your machine, all you need is two bulbs and a way to turn them on.  We currently stock the bulbs @ $4 per pair.  For turning them on we have three choices for you to consider.

 

If all you want is stock functionality our Otto dustproof and waterproof rocker switch only differs from stock in that the decals on the rocker say “On” and "Off” rather than the light insignia on the Polaris switch.  Installing it is just a matter of removing the upper half of the headlight pod (3 screws) and cutting out one of the molded-in switch templates on the underside of the pod.  The switch just snaps into the hole and the loose wires in the pod already have the proper connector on them for connection to the switch.

 

For a pod switch we prefer the upgrade to an Otto illuminated on/off rocker switch.  This way when you turn the work lights on the switch will glow (amber or green LED, your choice) so you aren’t unintentionally riding around with the work lights on.

 

The third option is our Automatic Back-Up Light Kit.  Installation of this kit turns the “work lights” into automatic back-up lights.  As long as your ignition key is in the on position (motor doesn’t need to be running), when you shift into reverse the lights will go on.  You can use this mod on its own to fire the work lights whether you’re backing up or not, or use it in conjunction with manual rocker switch (illuminated or plain) mounted in the pod.
