The Quadovator's "work light" to AUTOMATIC BACK-UP LIGHT
conversion kit for all Polaris w/ work lights

Do you like to ride at night? We do, and as you can probably
tell by our 3 Headlight Mod, we like to be “well lit” when the sun
goes down. This is
also true when we’re backing up (sometimes ESPECIALLY when we’re
backing up). As far as
we’re concerned, when Polaris built “work lights” into the rear of
the new machines they missed a golden opportunity to offer what
many of us have had for years with auxiliary lights hooked up to
the reverse shift indicator wire, AUTOMATIC BACK-UP LIGHTS. But the new machines with the digital speedo
displays don’t have a 12v wire to tap into for a backup light. The more sophisticated
digital shift indicator is actuated by a switch on the transmission
that sends a grounded signal through a resistor pack. That’s made turning the “work
lights” into automatic back-up lights a challenge, until
now. |

The R&D on this mod began with more-complicated expensive relays and they worked great, but to keep the cost of this mod affordable our kit utilizes two more-common relays combined into a dual relay pack, pre-wired for convenient installation. A new double wire runs from the transmission switch wiring up to the headlight pod. All the rest of the wiring is done inside the pod, where the new relay pack just rests comfortably to the left of the headlight. Wires tap into the “work light” switch and the ground wire on the accessory outlet. The result, on any Polaris with “work lights,” is whenever you shift into reverse your work lights automatically turn on and shifting into any other position turns them off. The existing work light switch still functions just the way it did before the mod and all shift indicator displays and AWD function exactly as they’re supposed to. The kit includes all wiring, connectors, zip ties and detailed instructions. You will need to cut a wire that goes to the tranny switch so if that bothers you don’t order this kit.
